The artist residency Villa Kamogawa was set up as an artist residency in the rooms of the Goethe Institute in Kyoto as part of the 150th anniversary of German-Japanese relations. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Villa Kamogawa, all residents were invited by curator Michael Hirschbichler to contribute a “Verbindungsstück” to the exhibition, which creates an associative and at the same time concrete connection between the artistic processes and the encounters on site. The exhibition opens in this way a diverse associative space, the strands which lead from the artistic works of the fellows to insights into the architecture and atmosphere of the villa itself, to questions about global interdependencies and new forms of cultural-political exchange programs.

“Villa Kamogawa in Berlin” invites you to the opening of the exhibition in the CLB on Moritzplatz on April 28th with a discussion panel with Johannes Ebert, Jun’ichiro Ishii, Wibke Behrens and Kerstin Eckstein. A catalog for the exhibition, which runs until May 15, 2022, will be published by the Berlin publishing house Wasmuth & Zohlen. The online version of the exhibition and more information about the program can be found here:
